On 24th July 2017, at 6.30pm, SCFA co-organized a farewell reception for the Chinese Ambassador HE Mr Chen Xiaodong, together with the Ee Hoe Hean Club (EHC), Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) of Nanyang Technological University, Tan Kah Kee Foundation, Tan Kah Kee International Society and Singapore-China Association for Advancement of Science & Technology (SCAAST). The reception took place at Regent Singapore. The guests started arriving at 6pm. Upon the arrivals of HE Mr Chen Xiaodong and Mrs Chen, warm welcome was given from all guests. The hosts, SCFA President Prof Phua Kok Khoo, EHC President Mr Ko Oon Joo Francis, SCAAST President Prof Shen Zexiang gave speeches at the Reception.
After the speeches, the co-hosts presented gifts to HE Mr Chen and took group photos. Guided by the emcee, all the guests expressed good wishes for HE Mr Chen and Mrs Chen. This also marked the start of the Dinner.
There were around 90 guests graced the function, including officials from the Chinese Embassy - the Charge d'Affairs Mr Fang Xinwen, Military Attache Mr Li Daozhong, Minister Counsellor Mr Zheng Chao, Counsellors Mr Yu Yunfeng, Mr Que Xiaohua, Mr Wang Jiarong, Ms Wang Rongfang and Mr Pan Zejun; and SCFA Honorary Advisor Dr Ker Sin Tze, Advisor Mr Lim Chin Joo, Vice President Mr Ung Gim Sei, Honorary Treasurer Mr Ng Swan Meen, Committee members Mr Ow Chin Seng, Mr Wang Shouzhi, Mr Ang Teck Sin, Mr Chua Teck Ming, Ms Fang Ying and some SCFA members. The Reception ended at around 8.30pm.
