华中科技大学校长李培根教授、院士将率团于2012年5月14日访问新加坡。李培根校长在中国是一位非常知名的大学校长，在中国教育界可以说是无人不晓。学生们都爱称其为“根叔”。为了迎接李培根校长的到访，华中科技大学新加坡校友会将于5月15日组织一场“根叔演讲会”，演讲题目是:“我看中国的高等教育”。
