Singapore is the host country for the coming 5th Conference on ASEAN-China People-To-People Friendship Organisations (CACPPFO) and Singapore China Friendship Association is proud to be the organiser for this event to be held in July 28 to 30 this year.
This event was inaugurated in 2006 in Beijing, China, and held annually by a willing friendship association on a rotation basis according to the alphabetical order of the country's name. The CACPPFO was subsequently held in Brunei, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively. The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for friendly gathering on a people-to-people level between the 10 ASEAN countries and China, as well as discussion opportunities to further strengthen the efforts in the five pillars of cooperation in economy, culture, education, health and sports.
Participants of the CACPPFO are delegates of the Friendship Associations of the ten ASEAN countries and China - many of whom are governmental officials and political leaders in their respective countries - as well as business delegates. For the 5th Conference, Madam Gu Xiulian, President of the China-ASEAN Association, will personally lead the delegation from China.
The 5th CACPPFO will be held in Resorts World Sentosa and the theme for this year is "The ASEAN-China Cooperative Relation: Opportunities and Challenges". Workshops covering the topics of ageing, green technology, science and maths education, human resource and employment, China-ASEAN FTA etc will be conducted during the conference. In addition, there will also an exhibition featuring technological products, culture, education materials and software. Cultural performances will also be presented during the gala dinner.
The conference holds a great significance as this year also marks the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China. It will definitely be an important milestone for our association.
